GCN is committed to sending several members from our congregation plus additional brothers and sisters in Christ from other churches, including teens and adults, on a mission trip to Honduras in July 2009. Click here to see some photos from our 2008 mission to Honduras.
Vision Statement
Our desire is to go to Honduras and serve humbly with a passionate love that can only come from Christ. We understand that we will be uncomfortable and stretched beyond what we think we can handle, but may we come to know and recognize that with God, all things are possible. We want our team to grasp the reality that when we serve ‘the least of these’ we not only look directly into the face of God himself, but we are participating in the fellowship of sharing in Christ’s sufferings. We pray that our faith in Jesus will grow like never before and we’ll be able to claim that faith without action is dead.![]()

The mission is to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength and to love the people we will serve as ourselves. Our desire is to imitate Jesus’ behavior knowing that he did not come to be served, but to serve and to save the lost. We want to acknowledge that we have been freely given so much and we would like to freely give to others. Our goal is to care for orphans and widows, feed the hungry, give water to the thirsty, give a stranger a ride, clothe people who need clothing, and care for the sick.
Planned Activities
As part of the overall mission, there will be several teams formed to pray over particular ministry areas, including children’s ministry, medical, family, and construction teams. (More details will be provided as our plans develop.) There will be planning done through these groups. It will be extremely important for team members to desire to really work together to accomplish the goals set before them.
One of the most important qualities a team member must possess is flexibility. Not everything will go according to plan or the way you thought it would. But, we have to be flexible and open to where the Holy Spirit might be leading us.

We thank everyone who has donated to support the mission trip! With the help from many of you, we have received donations of new clothing, medical supplies, newborn baby kits, sewing kits, and new shoes! We will be taking and distributing these items among the Santa Barbara & El Sauce communities during our mission trip in July.
We offer a special thanks to three organizations -- Brenta LLC, Soles 4 Soles, and Brother's Brother Foundation -- who donated 2,230 pairs of shoes. Thank you!
The owners and manufacturer company, Brenta LLC. Special thanks to Jenifer Wynne with SMD Wynne.
Soles4Souls, based in Nashville, Tennessee, facilitates donations of new and used shoes, which are used to aid the hurting worldwide. Soles4Souls has distributed more than 4.3 million pairs (currently donating one pair every 17 seconds) to people in over 125 countries, including Honduras, Uganda, Romania, and the United States.
Brother's Brother Foundation has distributed more than one million pairs of new shoes to persons in need around the globe. As a main partner of SolesUnited, a first-of-its-kind recycled footwear donation program by Crocs Inc., Brother's Brother Foundation (BBF) will be working with non-profit organizations in nations around the globe to deliver new pairs of shoes to people in need. BBF started its collaboration with SolesUnited in 2006 and has already distributed more than 675,000 pairs of shoes to more than 40 countries.
