Weekly Update

Hi GCN Family,

Heavy on my heart today is the news of devastation from flooding in the wake of Hurricane Helene a few days ago. We join together in praying for those who have lost loved ones, and those most impacted by this. And if you would like to help financially, you can give to the Nazarene Compassionate Ministries 2024 Storm Response.

Have you had the opportunity to just…be still…this week? It’s easier said than done. If you were a part of our worship service on Sunday, then you know that we issued that invitation: Begin each day in silence and stillness before God. Maybe pray this prayer: “Come Holy Spirit. I need you.” Then, end the day the same way. We think we need so much, but what we actually need is God’s Presence. We need to be filled with His Holy Spirit so that we can love people with the love of Jesus. Our world is desperate for us to love and live like that.

This Sunday, we continue in our series through the book of Exodus. What an epic story! This Sunday, we’re going to journey through the 10 Plagues (Ex. 7-12) and get all the way to the Red Sea (13-14). Here’s a question to ponder: What fears are you facing that you need to take to the Lord? What would it look like to apply Exodus 14:13-14 to that fear?

A Few Other Things…

  1. Over the next couple weeks, you’ll notice flooring and painting updates in our lobby, hallways, Life Center (gym), and a couple classrooms. There might be a minor disruption on Sundays or weeknight activities, but we’ll keep you posted. Looking forward to what’s ahead!
  2. TEAM Day. November 2. At Grace Pointe Church of the Nazarene in Severn, MD. This is fantastic Leadership Training Day. All are invited. The cost is very reasonable, and it includes lunch! James K.A. Smith, the keynote speaker, is excellent. So many workshops available. To find out more and to register, CLICK HERE.
  3. Faith Promise Sunday. Sunday, November 3rd. This is a great Sunday when we kick-off our Faith Promise offering that helps fund Kingdom of God efforts all over the world. This year, our speakers will be Wilmar and Jessica Rojas. They served for over a decade as missionaries in Argentina. Now, they are serving in South Carolina. We look forward to hearing from them. Much Love,

Pastor Brian
