Weekly Update

“Go and make disciples of the nations…” – Jesus, in Matthew 28:19

Those words of Jesus were at the heart of the message this past Sunday.

But what does “making disciples” look like? It looks like a lot of things!

It looks like a group of 4 or 5 guys meeting together every Wednesday morning before work, for years.
It looks like a middle-aged dad intentionally doing life with a young adult man.
It looks like a teacher pouring into a student.
It looks like a grandmother in her 60s investing in a couple moms in their 30s.

All of these examples exist just inside GCN! And there are many more.

This is how the Great Commission is accomplished. Not primarily through programs or events, but through ordinary people intentionally investing in one another, one relationship at a time

On Sunday, I invited you to let us know if you are interested in discipling someone or in being discipled. Take a minute, fill out the CONNECT CARD, and select “I’m interested in discipleship.” We’ll be in touch with you soon.

We are called to be disciples of Jesus, who make disciples who make disciples. Let’s go!

A COUPLE OTHER THINGS:

  1. Interested in learning more about GCN? Join us THIS SUNDAY for the GCN Membership Lunch. 12:00pm-3:00pm. Lunch provided. While this class is part of the membership process, attending does not commit you to becoming a member. Truly, this class is for anyone who wants to learn more about GCN’s history, beliefs, and mission. REGISTER HERE.
  2. Spiritual Gifts Assessment. If you haven’t already done so, take a few moments to complete the Spiritual Gifts Assessments. This helps us discover our gifts, use them faithfully, and fan those same gifts into flame in others. CLICK HERE for the Assessment.
  3. Faith Promise Sunday. Sunday, November 1. This is one of my favorite Sundays of the year. We’ll have guest missionaries joining us, Jay and Teanna Sunberg. They have served as missionaries overseas for years, but for the past 3 years, they are strategic Nazarene missionaries in Manhattan, New York. Faith Promise Sunday is all about generosity and giving to God’s mission. The money you pledge and give goes towards projects, church plants, and missionaries all over the world.

Much Love, disciples!
