Weekly Update
Hi GCN Family,
Jesus comes up from the Jordan River waters at his baptism, and the first words He hears is this: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.” (Luke 3:22) I have no doubt that those words are still echoing in His ear as He begins to perform miracles, and teach parables, and offend Pharisees, and welcome Samaritans, and invite people to leave their life of sin and follow Him.
This Sunday, we begin a new series, The Jesus Way. Here’s a little spoiler: We don’t become more like Jesus simply by trying really hard to become more like Jesus. We become more like Jesus as we allow the Holy Spirit to pour the love of Jesus into us. This is a picture of what happens at Jesus’ baptism (Holy Spirit descends like a dove, and then the result is the voice of Love from the Father), and then Paul says the exact same thing in Romans 5:5.
You’ve probably heard this before: Hurt people, hurt people. But I also think the reverse is true: Loved people, love people.
Speaking of love, who can you show that to today? Maybe it’s in the form of shoveling some snow for someone, or maybe it’s just calling someone up and encouraging them. Don’t overcomplicate it. Just love people when they least expect it and least deserve it.
A few things…
Much Love,
