Listen // God Speaks (Plus, Night of Prayer. Sunday @ 6:30-7:30p)
Hi GCN Family,
Listen.
I need to do more of this. How about you? Sure, we could all stand to improve our listening skills when it comes to other people. More than that, we need to listen to all that God has to say. In fact, I would even say this: I need to hear what God has to say even more than God needs to hear what I have to say. Don’t get me wrong, He wants to hear from you. No need is too big or too small to take to God in prayer. Still, we need to hear from Him.
One more thing. Many of us believe that the goal of hearing God’s voice is to obtain information. But I don’t think that’s primary goal, at least not from God’s perspective. God’s goal is intimacy with us. Just like any relationship, you have to lean in, take time, and pay attention. God created us to trust Him deeply. God created us to listen for His voice.
As we continue in our series tomorrow, God Speaks, let's consider what it means for us to be a church who is primarily concerned with listening to God, and listening to the needs of the people around us.
Ways to prepare for tomorrow’s time together:
Finally, a reminder: NIGHT OF PRAYER. TOMORROW (SUNDAY) NIGHT @ 6:30-7:3OPM. GCN SANCTUARY. The purpose: To set aside time to seek God together, and to pray for God’s Kingdom to come right where we’re located, as it is in heaven.
Much Love,
Pastor Brian

Ways to prepare for tomorrow’s time together:
- Read and reflect on 1 Samuel 3:1-10. What stands out to you? What do you think is causing Samuel to mistake God’s voice for Eli’s voice?
- Pray this simple prayer: “Speak, Lord, your servant is listening.” Then, take a few minutes to be still before the Lord.
- Who do you know who is lonely, going through a difficult season, or is in special need of experiencing the kind of love that comes from the community of Jesus (the church)? Take a moment and invite them to join you tomorrow. Send that text. Make that phone call.
