Weekly Update
GCN’s Good Friday service is this Friday at 7pm. I hope you’ll join. We will open God’s Word together, pray together, and consider the gravity of the cross of Jesus. There is no resurrection without a crucifixion.
Resurrection Sunday is this Sunday. Who are you inviting to join you? Easter Egg Hunt at 9am, for all kids, through 5th grade. Worship Service at 10:30am. Can’t wait!
Today is Wednesday of Holy Week. It’s sometimes called “Spy Wednesday.” That’s because tradition speculates that it was on Wednesday when Judas went to the chief priests and plotted hand Jesus over to them.
Judas’ betrayal of Jesus is frustrating and confusing. Judas has walked with Jesus for three years. He knows how compassionate he is. He has seen him extend grace to people. He has seen him perform miracles, heal people, and heard him proclaim that the Kingdom of God has come. How can Judas, of all people, betray Jesus?
This is how sin works: Judas has been deceived. More than likely, he is disappointed that Jesus is not overthrowing Rome by force. Now, in his greed, he is looking to profit from that sin.
Still, God takes what the enemy intended for evil, and He turns it for good. God takes the sin of Judas and turns it into the events that lead to the cross and resurrection.
