Weekly Update

GCN Family,
 
Fix your eyes on Jesus.
 
This past Sunday, Pastor Kevin shared from Hebrews 12:1-3. Verse 1 says to “Run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”
 
Well, how do we do that? I like the way the New Living Translation says it in verse 2: “We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from start to finish.”
 
In the middle of difficulty, we must keep our eyes on Jesus. In a world full of compromise – trying to figure out how to respond – keep your eyes on Jesus (and by His Spirit, become more like Jesus). As our kids headed back to school this week, our encouragement to them is keep your eyes on Jesus.

I loved that moment at the end of our worship service this past Sunday, as we prayed over our students, teachers, and workers beginning a new school year. God goes before you!
 
A FEW THINGS TO NOTE…

1. Welcome Home Sunday. September 13th. This Sunday is designed for you to invite friends, family members, co-workers, and neighbors. We’ll be kicking off the fall with GCN Kids. We’ll be baptizing people. Then, we’ll gather for a big picnic right after the worship service. We want to be a “Welcome Home!” kind of church!
2. Giving towards the Honduras Mission Team / Cocal Gracias. A mission team from GCN will be serving in Honduras in just a few weeks, leaving on September 14th. This is part of our partnership with Cocal Gracias Ministries over many years. A great way to support this team and that ministry is by giving supplies and gifts for those who are a part of this ministry in Puerto Cortes. CLICK HERE to check out the Amazon Gift Registry.
3. GCN Church Sign Update. Earlier this year I shared that we would be installing a new church sign along Goshen Road, as our current sign is in need of replacement. Originally, that was scheduled to be completed by late spring/early summer. However, we have run into some issues with Montgomery County policies that have delayed the process. Please pray that we will be allowed variance from the county to continue the installation of the sign in the coming weeks. We’re optimistic that this will be the case. Our hope is that this new church sign is a simple way to express to our neighbors that this is a family to which they can belong.
