Weekly Update

GCN Family,

This past Sunday we introduced Esther Zapana, our new GCN Kids Ministry Director. Over the next few weeks and months, reach out and get to know her and her beautiful family. In the meantime, get to know Esther with a little Get-To-Know-You Q and A, below!

Tell us a little bit about your family.
Esther: We are a family of five plus our dog smokey. We have three girls, Catalina(7), Arabella(5), and Magdalena(1). I married my high school sweetheart, and we’ve been married for almost 8 years. Our family loves to spend time outside no matter what we are doing. We enjoy going on spontaneous weekend trips, especially the beach. Our weekends consist of getting together with grandparents, siblings, friends and just enjoying some food together.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Esther:
When I was little, I dreamed of being a marine biologist. As I got older, I realized I was terrified of the ocean.

If you were stranded on a desert island and could only bring one snack, what would it be?
Esther:
Fresh figs

What is your go-to coffee shop order?
Esther:
 Caramel macchiato

Who is your World Cup team?
Esther:
Out of family tradition, Argentina! but really, I was hoping the US team would take the cup this year!

Who has been the most spiritually formative person in your life, and why?
Esther:
There are two people spiritually formative people in my life. One of them has been my best friend from middle school for the simple fact that no matter where life took us, she was always there to remind me that Jesus loves me and was always there with me. Fast forward to today, she is one of the people that I can talk to about my walk with Christ and share that journey together. The second person that probably made the biggest impact was my neighbor when we lived in Frederick. She was the first person to share the gospel with me in a way I never understood it before. God knew I needed her at that exact time, and it has changed my life forever. She has continuously guided me in my journey despite the distance between us.

What is your prayer for the children and families of GCN over this next year?
Esther:
I pray that we continue to grow and build deep connections with one another. My prayer for the kid's ministry is that the children will start/continue that loving relationship with Jesus and grow confident in sharing the gospel with everyone around them and through them we see how our community's change.

Anything else you’d like to share with your church family?

Esther: I'm just really excited to be a part of this family. Looking forward to how my family will grow in our faith and what God will do these next few years with the kids ministry!

These are good days! And the best is yet to come.
