Weekly Update

Take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:5)

On Sunday, the invitation was 2-fold:

1. Keep track of your thoughts. What percentage of your thoughts are negative or critical? What percentage of your thoughts are filled with worry? What percentage of your thoughts are a result of scrolling or media? Etc…
2. Receive the Holy Spirit.
   
   

The Holy Spirit has so many jobs. He reveals sin in our lives. He leads us to confession and repentance. He convicts us of the thoughts in our minds that are toxic and damaging to ourselves and others.

Ultimately, the primary job of the Holy Spirit is to form us into the character of Jesus.
So, today – even as you’re reading this – invite the Holy Spirit to examine your thoughts and examine your heart. Is there anything that is not pleasing to God? If so, confess it, repent of it, and keep turning to Jesus.

My prayer for us these days, church: Holy Spirit, fill us. Form us into people who look like Jesus. Send us into our neighborhood to lead people to Jesus. Amen.

Important Stuff Coming Up…

1. Youth Spring Retreat. May 1-3. CLICK HERE to register your 6th-12th grader. This is one of the best youth events all year. Still not too late to sign up!
2. NYC '26. We are about two months away from 10 of our GCN teens and leaders attending Nazarene Youth Conference in Salt Lake City, UT. This Sunday, we will have one final opportunity to support them as they make their final payment towards this trip. We will hear from one of the students who is attending and there will be opportunities to give in person and online. We're excited to be a part of God is doing in our youth ministry!

4. Summer Intern, Sydney Cochran! For the second summer in a row, the great Sydney Cochran will serve as our summer ministry intern. She is a sophomore at Regent University. We are looking forward to her serving with us this summer!
