God of Covenant / Snowy Saturday
GCN Family,
Our God is a God of Covenant. I’m excited about our Lenten series that begins tomorrow. I think God has a way of using seasons (such as Lent) to grow us in unique ways, shaping us more and more into people who look like Jesus. I’m believing and praying that’s the case this season. Here’s what I know for sure: God’s Covenants with us all point to the truth that God loves you, is pursuing you, and desires an intimate relationship with you. We were created to trust in Him.
Here are some key ways to prepare for our time of worship tomorrow:

Our God is a God of Covenant. I’m excited about our Lenten series that begins tomorrow. I think God has a way of using seasons (such as Lent) to grow us in unique ways, shaping us more and more into people who look like Jesus. I’m believing and praying that’s the case this season. Here’s what I know for sure: God’s Covenants with us all point to the truth that God loves you, is pursuing you, and desires an intimate relationship with you. We were created to trust in Him.
Here are some key ways to prepare for our time of worship tomorrow:
- Read Genesis 6-9, if you have time. What does the story of Noah and the Flood show you about God and what does it reveal about God’s posture towards sin? Also, think about Noah. How much faith must it have taken to step out and build that ark (a boat like no one had ever seen for a flood that had never happened before)?
- Who can you invite to join you tomorrow? I think one of the best ways to show love to someone is to invite them into a community where they will experience the love of Jesus. That is the definition of the local church. So, who is God laying on your heart right now? Send that text or make that phone call.
- Prayers of Confession. Part of Lent includes focusing on confession before God and one another. Take time today to invite the Holy Spirit to reveal what is not pleasing inside of you. Confess to Him.
- Pray for God’s Kingdom to come, especially in places where there is so much hurt: Kansas City and the families involved in that awful tragedy this past week, the tragedy of that Israel-Hamas war (God, we need you to intervene), the increased violence right here in Montgomery Village, and personal health issues and physical issues. And so much more.
Much Love,
Pastor Brian
