Weekly Update

GCN Family,

God is pursuing you and desires to have an intimate relationship with you. This is certainly true for you, friend. Now, flip it around to someone else. It’s also true for every person you will encounter today. It’s true for your kids, your spouse, your best friend, and also for that difficult person you work with or the people with whom you strongly disagree. This is the good news of Jesus, but God is already hinting at this truth way back throughout the Old Testament.

During this season of Lent, we’ll be looking at the places in scripture where God establishes a Covenant with His people (or talks about that Covenant). This past Sunday we looked at God’s Covenant with Noah. The most remarkable thing about that Covenant is that God both takes on the role of the stronger party (which He is) AND takes on the consequences for the weaker party (the sin of humanity). Our only right response to a God who is this good, is complete surrender of my life to Him and His ways. May that be so.

Here’s a list of the passages we’ll look at, leading up to Easter: Genesis 9 (February 18th), Genesis 17 (February 25), Exodus 20 (March 3), Numbers 21 (March 10), Jeremiah 31 (March 17), Mark 11 (March 24, Palm Sunday).

TAKE A NEXT STEP

• Easter Sunday (March 31) will also be Baptism Sunday! I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus than to baptize some people. We already have a few people planning to do just that. If you have a relationship with Jesus, but have not yet been baptized, I hope you’ll consider this next step. FILL OUT THIS FORM (and select “I’m interested in being baptized”).

• Join a Serving Team! Part of the joy of being a part of the community of Christ together, is serving together. Here are two primary openings where we especially need you: (1) Tech Team for Sunday mornings (Livestream, Graphics, Sound). And (2) Facilities Care/Cleaning Volunteers. I’m believing that some of you are reading this and feeling that nudge to step in and step up. First of all, we need you! And secondly, I know that it will bring a lot of joy to you.
