4th Sunday of Advent // Christmas Eve
Hi GCN Family,
Happy day before the day before Christmas! Who are you inviting to join you tomorrow for our Christmas Eve Candlelight Service (and Christmas Experience afterwards) @ 5pm and our 10:30am Worship Service in the morning?
There are a few places in Scripture where the curtain gets peeled back and we catch a glimpse of the eternal worship song being sung by the angels. The song doesn’t have a lot of lyrical variation. Rather, it is all-out awe and worship of the King of all Kings. One of those places where that curtain gets peeled back is in Luke 2. That choir of angels shows up to the shepherds out in a Bethlehem field and belt it out:
Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests. (Luke 2:14)
That sounds similar to another place when the curtain gets peeled back, in Isaiah 6: Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.
Which sounds similar to this other time when the curtain gets peeled back, in Revelation 4: Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.
The most Christmas-sy thing we can do is join that angel chorus, bowing down in worship of our God. He has come to us, because we could never work our way to Him. He who knew no sin has entered into our sin to overcome sin. Those shepherds and those magi modeled for us the correct response: Worship the King of all Kings.
Looking forward to worshiping Jesus alongside you all tomorrow. Our 10:30am Worship Service will be a time of participation, singing, reflection, and prayer as we celebrate the 4th Sunday of Advent. Then, that 5:00pm Candlelight Service will be a blessed time as we worship the Newborn King. Invite people in your life to join you. Send that text. Make that call.
May you experience the deep peace, joy, hope, and love of Jesus today, and may your respond in worship.
Much Love,
Pastor Brian
