Weekly Update
Hi GCN Family,
We are a House of Prayer. I hope you’ll plan to join us for Night of Prayer this Sunday evening (May 5th) at 6pm. Weather-permitting, we’ll be praying and worshiping on the Patio here at GCN. Historically, every movement of God was rooted in months and years of prayer. When we pray together, as a church, we are laying the foundation for what God will do in us and through us in the next year, decade, and generation. We pray for God’s Kingdom to come right here, as it is in heaven.
We’re in a series called Practicing Resurrection. We’re looking at the movement of the Holy Spirit in the early church. It’s the Spirit of the resurrected Christ that is empowering them for His mission in the world. The same is true for us. I’ll give you a heads-up: This Sunday, we’ll be looking at Acts 10. It’s that moment when the gospel extends to the Gentiles, and God pours His Spirit out upon them. This might not seem like a big deal to us today, but it’s huge! I’ll speak personally, as a Gentile: I wouldn’t be included in the fold if it weren’t for this moment. I would encourage you to read and pray Acts 10 this week. Here is what stands out to me: prayer is the subtext of the whole story. Cornelius is praying regularly. Peter is praying multiple times a day. Peter ends up being an answer to Cornelius’ prayer. Question: How can you be an answer to someone else’s prayer today?
Our prayer: Holy Spirit, fill us. Empower us to love people with the love of Jesus. Send us on your mission to be an answer to someone else’s prayer today. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Things coming up…
Much Love,
Pastor Brian

- Donate Refreshments? GCN is a polling location for the upcoming Tuesday, May 14th Election. We could use cookie donations! You can begin bringing those cookies beginning this Sunday, May 5th, or you can begin dropping them off in the church coffee shop as long as they are clearly marked. And yes, cookies can be store-bought. Please see Jill Gale at the kiosk in the foyer after the worship service on Sunday morning for more information.
- Invite all neighbors, friends, family, and enemies to Mega Sports Camp! It’s June 17-20, for all kids entering 1st – 6th grade (in the 2024-25 school year). And it’s completely free! To register, CLICK HERE.
- A Memorial Service for Harold Scott will be on Friday, May 10th at 1:30pm at GCN. Harold is the late husband of Karen Scott. We pray for Karen, her three daughters, and their family.
Much Love,
