HIS LAW WRITTEN ON OUR HEARTS
The prophet, Jeremiah, wrote these words around 600 years before Jesus:
“This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time,” declares the Lord. “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.” (Jeremiah 31:33)
This is such good news. The Law is really good at revealing sin and unrighteousness in our lives, but the Law did not have the power to cleanse us from that sin or change our hearts. We needed God’s Character to move from the external stone tablets to the internal recesses of our hearts and lives. There is no way that Jeremiah could have imagined the full extent to which God was going to work, in Christ. Here’s a picture of what Christ has given us:
Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. (Romans 10:13) And then…it’s GAME ON. He is WITH YOU, and IN YOU, and goes BEFORE YOU, and comes BEHIND YOU, and He’s FILLING YOU, and SURROUNDS YOU. His Law, His Love, His Character is written in our hearts.
That’s the encouragement today. Make space for the Holy Spirit to work in your life today. Looking forward to worshiping our Savior alongside you tomorrow. We’re continuing in our series, The God of Covenant. Who can you invite to join you?
Much love,
Pastor Brian
“This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time,” declares the Lord. “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.” (Jeremiah 31:33)

We needed God’s Character to move from the external stone tablets to the internal recesses of our hearts and lives. There is no way that Jeremiah could have imagined the full extent to which God was going to work, in Christ. Here’s a picture of what Christ has given us:
- God takes care of the sin problem by entering into sin. (2 Corinthians 5:21)
- He didn’t just offer sacrificial forgiveness of sin; He also fills us full of himself. It’s Christ IN US. (Colossians 1:27) But wait, there’s more…
- The love of Jesus is being poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit. (Romans 5:5)
- It’s not just Christ in us. It’s not just the Holy Spirit filling us and forming us into Christlikeness. It’s also this: You are in Christ. He surrounds you. He makes you new. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
- And then, it gets even better: You are hidden with Christ…in God. (Colossians 3:3)
