Weekly Update
Hi GCN Family,
“Those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” (Luke 14:11)
Just as there are natural laws that govern the universe (the law of gravity, for example), there are spiritual laws that govern the Kingdom of God. Luke 14:11 is one of those laws. This past Sunday, we talked about how humbling ourselves doesn’t come naturally. We don’t become more humble by trying really hard to be more humble. Rather, we become humble by allowing the Holy Spirit to fill us. It’s more of Him and less of me. Try this out this week: serve someone without expecting anything in return (or perhaps without anyone even noticing).
God can use a humble church because that means we’re a church who is giving space for the Holy Spirit to fill us. May it be so! This week, some from GCN are serving at the summer camp at Washington Square. Pray for those students who are impacted by that week of camp. To quote our awesome intern, Amen, “I am praying that those kids encounter the love of Jesus this week!” More of Jesus, less of me.
Engage and Pray:
Much Love,
Pastor Brian

Engage and Pray:
- Download the GCN App and plug into the Daily Bible Reading and Prayer plan. This is part of what it means to be a church who is both shaped by the Way of Jesus and who is actively loving our neighborhood.
- Plug into a Summer Fun Group. Golf this Sunday night, Firepit night at the Grubers next Saturday (7/20), or book a time to paint with Edna Searles! I’ve loved those times together. Keep plugging in and invite others to join you.
- Action Item: Who is God laying on your heart today? Maybe that person who comes to mind is someone you need to text or call and offer encouragement and prayer.
Much Love,
Pastor Brian
